I know I made this blog like ages ago yet I havent posted anything just yet. So here is my late hello =)
Placement. What I've been doing here, uhm, trying to finish my project step by step according to the timeline given and yeah it's my 3rd week here. Being in Boronia (it's so faaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrr away from my place and takes me like 1.5 hours to actually get here) and thanks to Jonathan for picking me up everyday from Bayswater station =) or else I dont know how I can get there on time.
Project so far so good. I dont know if I'm allowed to post it here because someone told me it's confidential thingy so yea. Been talking to some people here, some of them are from Monash too (Yay!) and been doing Lab stuffs. The first 2 days were not really good. Been reading SOP and Work Instruction like how to handle the balance in the proper way and stuffs. Yet the next 2 weeks feels like 2 seconds. Been busying all day with catching up the project timeline and here I forgot to post any blog post which is due yesterday (sorry to Lynda and Joann for the late post).
Work environment is really good. Lots of open area and grass and pond, not just building and building. The people here are nice too, the canteen foods are good and CHEAP. The supervisor, Jonathan Parks, is good, he keeps following up with us about what we have done, we are doing and we will be doing.
For career plan, uhm, to be honest I cannot imagine myself being in the lab for like 10 year later. So yea I've been thinking about something else for my long term plan. Yet for a short plan, I'm still confused of what I'm gonna do after I graduate. It is either finding a job or doing honours. Well I don't really mind doing honours but I myself still haven't known if I really want to do it or I just do it to kill time for a year. Been looking for the honours project posted at Monash MIPPS websites and still considering it because I heard many employers prefer honours students than just undergrad.
Anyway, I think I've done most of my pre-placement career plan I submit to Laurence. Just one part missing, there is no research and development area here which I'm so interested in. But the lab is good, clean and tidy and there is no other lab I would choose to work in rather than this (exageratting i know).
Oh well, I have to go back to the project and hope I can finish today's schedule in time. Bye.
